ModSpace125 Event Preview

(Mooresville, N.C. July 28, 2015-) With a ninth place finish last weekend at the Lucas Oil Raceway, Austin Wayne Self (AWS) driver of the AM Technical Solutions No. 98 earned his ninth top-10 finish of the 2015 season and tied his longest streak of consecutive top-10’s of the 2015 season (3). Now AWS and Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) turn their attention to the 2.5 mile, three-turn Pocono Raceway located in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards visited the “Tricky Triangle” six weeks ago. The track has remained the same, the distance has not. The June race was a 200 mile, 80 lap ra11143177_10154060739643222_2099727879382263224_nce. This weekend’s race is a 125 mile, 50 lap sprint which will change the strategy for the teams.
Self was battling for a top-5 finish in June before a broken control arm sent the 19-year-old into the wall with three laps remaining, relegating him to a 15th place finish.

“The August race is very different than the June race,” Self added. “The June race you can pace yourself and take your time. The August race is a full on sprint and you have to race 100% every lap.”
“This race always seems to come down to fuel-mileage and strategy at the end of the race. The team who has no problems and plays the strategy right seems to end up in victory lane here.”

“MMM’s enjoyed success at Pocono, I know we will have a great car and a chance for the victory come Saturday.”
With seven races remaining in 2015, AWS still remains in the championship fight sitting third in ARCA drivers’ championship trailing leader Grant Enfinger by 160 points.
Chassis: Self will be back behind the wheel of chassis No. 593. AWS raced chassis No. 593 last month at the Chicagoland Speedway to a 12th place finish. Chassis 593 has five prior starts with one win, four top-5 finishes and six top-10’s.

AWS at Pocono: Self has three prior starts at the Pocono Raceway, earning one top-10 finish last August when he finished 8th. The second year driver has an average finish of 15.7 at the “Tricky Triangle.”
The ModSpace 125 at the Pocono Raceway will be live on Fox Sports 2 beginning Saturday, August 2nd beginning at 3:15p.m. EST Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring presented by Pirate Energy and AM Technical Solutions for all on-track activity.
