Justin Fontaine Set to make NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Debut at Martinsville

jpfAustin, Texas (October 25, 2016) – AM Racing announced today that 19-year old Justin Fontaine will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut driving the team’s No.22 ProMATIC Automation Toyota Tundra during the Texas Roadhouse 200 on October 29 at Martinsville Speedway.

Justin Fontaine, a native of Ashville, NC and freshman at UNC Charlotte is a three-year veteran of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with four NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts in 2016.  Making the move up the ranks, Fontaine began his career racing Quarter Midgets, Mini Cup and Late Models on local short tracks throughout North Carolina and Tennessee.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining AM Racing for my upcoming NASCAR Truck event at Martinsville Speedway,” says Justin Fontaine.  “After spending time at the shop with the team and going over the truck I feel confident our ProMATIC Automation Toyota Tundra will be fast off the truck.  I can’t thank everyone at the team for the effort they’ve put in to get us ready for the race.”

Fontaine occupying the seat normally reserved for NCWTS rookie Austin Wayne Self, was part of a decision between AM Racing and driver Self to lay the foundation for the team’s long term strategic growth plans of fielding multiple fulltime trucks in the series starting in ’17.

“The best interest of the team always comes first.  This was a business decision made in the best interest of the team,” said Self.  “I’m excited for Justin and the direction our team is headed.  Allowing him (Fontaine) to get behind the wheel at Martinsville is a big step for our team and allows Justin the opportunity to gain valuable seat time so he can come back and compete with us in a larger role.  I’ll be offering him all the support I can while I prepare for my next start at Texas.”

Fontaine will rely on the vast experience of crew chief, Rick Ren, for setup and insight as the North Carolina teenager prepares for his first NASCAR Series start.

Justin Fontaine is the younger cousin of longtime NCWTS competitor Chris Fontaine. jpf-truck

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – Texas Roadhouse 200 presented by Alpha Energy Solutions from Martinsville Speedway will air LIVE on FOX Sports 1, Saturday, October 29 at 1:30 PM EST.

AWS Talladega Superspeedway Quote:

“I’m excited to make my first career Truck Series start at Talladega.  I’ve had some decent results over the past couple years in the ARCA Series so I’m coming in with some experience – knowing what to expect.  These plate races are so intense, you’re up on the wheel the entire race with no time to relax.  These trucks are so aero sensitive. With the high speeds and tight racing you’ve really got to be patient and not make any mistakes or it will cost you.” -Austin Wayne Self

Austin Wayne Self, AM Racing Talladega Bound with Trump

Austin, Texas (October 6, 2016) –With the Presidential election heating up, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver, Austin Wayne Self and AM Racing announced today their joint support for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Vice Presidential candidate Mike Pence.

Self, a native of the great state of Texas, along with his AM Racing NASCAR truck team, plan to unveil their red, white and blue No.22 ‘Trump-Pence, Make American Great Again’ tribute truck at the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – Fred’s Pharmacy 250 event at Talladega Superspeedway on October 22.

The Talladega race date which falls three weeks before the United States presidential election of 2016, provides a timelystage to show support.

Austin Wayne Self, NASCAR driver and part of the millennial generation, knows the importance of exercising his privilege to vote in the upcoming November presidential election.

“This will be the first presidential election I’ve been old enough to take part in,” says 20-year old driver, Austin Wayne Self.  “Politics has never really been that important to me until now – but now more than ever we need change.  Trump and his values are in line with my beliefs.  I’m a big supporter of his business background and believe his experience is what this country has been waiting for. I’m really excited to show my support”.

Proud to carry the Trump-Pence endorsement on the side of his truck at Talladega, Self realizes the importance of this election.

“It’s important we carry this message and remind everyone, especially my peers, to get out and be heard come Election Day.  I think it’s cool we have someone running for president who doesn’t necessarily come from the political world.  Trump is a guy that I can really stand behind – he’s here to trumpmake American great again.”

The state of Texas, home of both Self and his primary partner AM Racing, has a strong reputation for its historical support of the Republican Party.

“We have to get God back into our lives and rebuild our Country on a foundation of Godly values,” stated AM Racing’s team owner, Tim Self.  “Trump’s actions indicate that he will push public policy in that direction.  Jerry Falwell Jr, Franklin Graham and our good friend Dr. James Dobson have faith in Trump. He is our guy. Hopefully, the Trump Pence Truck will make a small difference. It represents our family and friends doing our part.”

News of AM Racing’s Trump-Pence presidential ticket support has garnished high marks in their home state of Texas.  As proud partner of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN agri-business program, AM Racing received kudos from the commissioner of Agriculture.

“I’m proud to see that AM Racing is doing their part to get out the vote for Donald Trump by running their Trump/Pence truck at Talladega Superspeedway on October 22,” said Sid Miller, Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture. “As one of Mr. Trump’s key advisors in Texas I am confident he can win and bring back jobs to America.  He will make free trade into fair trade and that means a lot for the Texas agriculture industry and jobs across the country.  AM Racing and Donald Trump: both are Making America Great Again!”

Earlier this year Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump received a personal endorsement from NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France.

This message was paid for by AM Racing and is not endorsed by the Republican Party or the Donald J. Trump-Mike Pence Presidential campaign. The NCWTS – Fred’s Pharmacy 250 from Talladega Superspeedway will air live on FOX SPORTS 1 (FS1) at 1:00pm Saturday October 22, 2016.  FS1 will also cover same day qualifying at 10:30 am.  Expanded coverage of two practice sessions will air Friday October 21 at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.  All time Eastern Standard Time.

Austin Wayne Self (AWS) driving his No.22 AM Technical Solutions Toyota Tundra suffered a blown engine resulting in an early exit and 29th place finish in Saturday’s UNOH 175 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  After qualifying 22nd for his NCWTS debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, AMS took the green flag and began his climb up the leader board.  However, on lap-25, the Texas born driver started reporting high engine temps along w/ water spewing from his Tundra truck.  Despite the early warning signs AWS was able to race his way into the 15th position by lap-30 of the scheduled 175-lap event. But continued dangerous engine temps soon resulted in several pit stops to help remedy the concern. Temporarily cooling off the truck AWS was confident and back on track.  Short-lived, the motor temp spiked again on lap-128 resulting in a blown engine which sent the 22-truck hard into the outside wall ending AWS’s day early with a disappointing 29th place finish.   nhms1

Austin Wayne Self (AWS) drove his No.22 AM Technical Solutions – TechLine Manufacturing Toyota Tundra to a 17th place finish Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway.  Self’s Chicago finish was his third consecutive top-20 finish of the season.  After starting 25th, AWS was able to maintain a solid effort keeping his Tundra on the lead lap as the front runners set a blistering pace around Chicago’s 1.5 mile paved surface.  After riding mid-pack throughout most of the race AWS propelled his way towards the front, racing his way into the 13th position inside the final 10-laps.  Racing for position with two laps to go AWS was pushed up the track and out of the groove by the 71-truck.  Losing several positions in the final laps AWS crossed the stripe at the checkered flag in the 17th position.

Chicagoland Speedway Post Race Quote:

“We didn’t get the finish we deserved today but a lot of credit goes out to my crew for getting us in position late in the race.  We struggled early but made a big swing in the pits on that third stop and the truck came to life.  We were just outside the top-ten when we got pushed out of the groove.  I did everything I could from keeping it off the wall.  I’m just happy we kept it off the wall and brought the truck home in one piece.”
