Motor Mile April 14th Post-Race Comments

“We had a great weekend here at Motor Mile Speedway. The 07 Sport Clips Chevrolet was hooked up, the weather was perfect and we were in strong contention for a Top 5 finish for sure,” says Austin Wayne Self. “We were 2nd on the Speed Chart in Friday practice and 4th on the Speed Chart in the Saturday morning practice. I can’t give Brian and the Sellers crew enough credit. These guys give me a great car every week. I’m going to take them out to a chicken dinner real soon.”

“We can’t take all the credit for having a fast race car,” says Sellers Racing Crew Chief Brian Rundstrom. “Austin’s feedback on car handling is always spot on. The 07 car was well balanced. Austin could put it anywhere he wanted and we knew we had a car that was going to be fast by the end of the race when it counted. We were just pacing the field moving up without using our right rear when the 41 got loose right in front of us. Nobody’s fault just a part of racing.”

“We were on the 2nd lap of a double file restart and were still stacked up 2 wide and on the inside,” says Austin. “I had just gone back to throttle on the exit of turn 4 when the 41 car lost control and backed off right in front of me. There was no place to go and our race is over.”

“I feel bad for the team and for all of our fans and sponsors. We worked hard to show well here at Motor Mile Speedway. But the good news is we are safe, there’s no significant damage to the car and we will be back here May 5th to race again. God’s will we do well.”

“Special shout out to my friend Tommy Lemons Jr. for his 2nd place finish. Good Job Tommy!”
