(Mooresville, NC, September 21, 2015–) Salem Speedway located in Salem, Indiana is one of the most unpredictable races on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule and Saturday evening proved to be no different.
Austin Wayne Self, driver of the No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Ford raced in the top-10 all evening and raced as high as fourth in the running order just after halfway. The second year driver was pacing himself for the final 50 laps. Unfortunately, Self had a clutch issue under a late caution and lost three laps during the process. The 19-year-old would finish in the 16th position.
“It was a different Salem race than I’ve ever been part of,” Self explained. “We only had four tires to utilize during the race so we really just conserved our stuff until we were able to pit.”
“We had a car that could have won the race, unfortunately we had a problem with the clutch under caution and lost a few laps.”
It’s frustrating to have these little problems happen because our team and sponsors put so much time and effort into the Series. We have two races left and I really want to get everyone back to victory lane. Expect us to be factors in the final two races for the win.”
With two races remaining in the 2015 ARCA season Self sits fourth in championship points 350 behind leader Grant Enfinger.
It’s a short turnaround for the ARCA Racing Series, Tuesday the MMM team will test at the Kentucky Speedway in preparation for Friday evenings Crosley Brands 150.
The ARCA Racing Series will be back in action Friday evening September 25that the Kentucky Speedway for the Crosley Brands 150. The race will be live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST. ARCA will also provide live timing and scoring for all on-track activity presented by AM Technical Solutions and Pirate Energy.
