Austin Wayne Self No. 98 AM Technical Solutions Federated Auto Parts 200 at Berlin Raceway Event Preview

gvn(Mooresville, N.C.  August 4th, 2015-) No one has to be happier to return to a short track on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule more than Austin Wayne Self, driver of the AM Technical Solutions No. 98 for Mason Mitchell Motorsports. The series will make it’s 28th trip to the Berlin Raceway Saturday, August 8th for the Federated Auto Parts 200.

The 2014 Scott Rookie of the year has turned heads at the Berlin Raceway located in Marne, Michigan. In two starts the Austin, Texas native’s earned two top-five finishes and finished runner-up in the 2014 race.

Self has enjoyed success in 2015 on the short tracks earning one win, four top-five’s and seven top-ten finishes. Self’s consistency has him second in the Calypso Lemonade Short Track Challengesdrh point standings trailing leader Kyle Weatherman by only 10 points.

“I couldn’t be happier to head back to the Berlin Raceway this weekend,” Self expressed. “I’ve been pretty fortunate to enjoy success at Berlin.”

“We tested here a few weeks ago and had a solid test. This race always has a lot of green flag runs so it’s important to have a good long run car.”

“We’re bringing the same car we won with at Winchester, chassis No. 588, this car has been very consistent every time we bring it to the track and I expect no different on Saturday.”

With six races remaining in the 2015 ARCA season Self finds himself in the thick of the championship battle sitting tied for second in points with Tom Hessert. Self trails leader Grant Enfinger by 185 points heading in the 15th race of the 2015 season.

Chassis: Self will pilot chassis No. 588 out of the MMM stable. Chassis 588 has been the workhorse short track car for MMM in 2015 making four starts. Self went to victory lane in June at the Winchester driving car 588. Chassis 588 has 11 prior starts earning five top-five finishes and nine top-ten finishes.

AWS at Berlin: Self has two prior starts at the Berlin Raceway. His first start came in 2013 when he finished fourth. Last year AWS improved his finishing position to the runner-up spot. Self has an average finish of 3.0 in two starts at the 4/10 mile track.

The Federated Auto Parts 200 at the Berlin Raceway will be live on the ARCA Radio Network Saturday, August 8th beginning at 8:50.m. EST Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring presented by Pirate Energy and AM Technical Solutions for all on-track activity.
