Austin Wayne Self Making Second ARCA Series Start with Cunningham Motorsports

June 25, 2013 – Mooresville, NC –Coming off of a respectable 6th place finish at Toledo Speedway in his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut in May, Austin Wayne Self is looking forward to his next ARCA start.

Up next for the #22 team is the Herr’s Chase the Taste200 at the historic .5-mile Winchester Speedway. It is one of the oldest speedways in America, debuting in 1914 as a flat, dirt track. The high banking was added 8 years later, with the pavement being added in 1952. The current 33-degree banking configuration has remained mostly unchanged for over 90 years. 2013 will be the ARCA Series 24th visit to the short track, with Cunningham Motorsports securing the reigning championship status at Winchester. They have claimed the last two checkered flags, winning with Alex Bowman in 2012 and Dakoda Armstrong in 2011. Austin Wayne Self will be piloting the #22 AM Technical Solutions Dodge this weekend. Self competed in May at the Toledo Speedway, finishing 6th in his first ARCA Series start. Looking forward to the upcoming weekend, Self said, “I am super excited to head to Winchester. I’ve heard many good things about the track!! After a solid run at Toledo, I think we will pull off another great run….not to mention Cunningham has won the past two races there!!”

Practice is scheduled from 12:05-12:50 and 2:05-2:50, followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 5:00 EST on Saturday. 200 laps of racing will begin at 2:00 Sunday, with live timing and scoring available at www.arcaracing.com. As ARCA announced this weekend, NBC Sports Network will air four ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards races in August, beginning with the premier Thursday, August 1 of the Winchester Speedway race, at 11:00 pm EST.

Self Pulling double duty at Winchester this weekend

This weekend Austin Wayne Self rolls into a state that boasts a racing history unlike any other in the United States. The state of Indiana has fostered some of racing’s most iconic drivers, and this weekend Austin Wayne Self will be pulling double duty to capitalize on available seat time. On Saturday Austin will be racing the #54 Scott Neil Dodge Super Late Model in the ARCA CRA Super Series Winchester 100 and Sunday Austin will be racing the #22 AM Technical Solutions Cunningham Dodge in the ARCA Series Herr’s Chase the Taste 200 at Winchester Speedway. Austin looks forward to gaining valuable experience on the half mile track and etching his name into the history at Winchester Speedway. Austin stated, “This race is very special to me not just because of the history at Winchester but also all the family that is coming to watch me. I have a lot of family from Indiana and am really excited they are all going to be there with me.”

Self Places 2nd at HMP in #15 Modified

After a strong finish Saturday, Austin Wayne Self looks forward to testing in Indianapolis.

[dcs_img_left]http://www.awsracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/2ndPlaceFinishHMP.png[/dcs_img_left]In the 60 lap feature at Houston Motorsports Park, Austin Wayne Self succeeded in maintaining a top three position throughout the entire race. Running the #15, Sports Clips, Umscheid Racing Modified- Austin won his heat and started the race on the pole. Austin commented, “My car was running great and we almost had first, but he kept running me high, we had a great race and learned a lot, we lost some position after the cautions but got back up there and finished strong.” During the 60 lap feature only 12 of 20 cars remained on the lead lap and Austin Wayne Self proved once again his tenacity to race and endurance on the track results in consistent race finishes. This week Austin will begin testing in Indianapolis and looks forward to his upcoming ARCA race.
